Student Blog

I am a second year Psychology with Behaviour Analysis student and have just completed my Level 2 student placement at Dyscovery Centre. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the clinic, and everyone was so welcoming and were happy to answer any of my questions. I learnt so much from all the different specialists at the centre such as the speech and language and occupational therapist. They were all so willing to give advice and help me in any way they could. I was able to get hands on experience in learning about assessment tools for specific conditions and having a thorough understanding on what they mean for an individual. My tasks varied each week and I never knew what to expect which was so exciting! I got to do things such as scoring questionnaires, summarising new referrals for staff meetings, observing assessments, doing research for staff and even getting involved in the play observations! I would never have expected to get such practical experience in a clinic setting as an undergrad, so I’m extremely grateful for getting this opportunity. I would highly recommend this placement, even if you don’t necessarily want to work in this field, there is a range of learning opportunities to develop so many of your skills! I cannot wait to come back to get involved in their developing Lego Therapy research.
